To issue your Inner Line Permit, district authorities require the following:
1. Government Photo ID: Clear copy of original Aadhaar Card or Voter ID (Passport also accepted).
2. Passport-size Photographs: 4 recent passport-size color photos.
3. Medical Fitness Certificate: Stamped and signed by any registered MBBS doctor certifying fitness for high altitude (above 10,000 ft).
4. Notarized Police Clearance / Self-Declaration Affidavit: A standard character declaration stating you have no criminal proceedings pending (we provide the pre-filled format).

The permissible age limit set by the district administration is 9 years to 70 years (pilgrims aged 70–75 years are permitted with special medical clearance, normal ECG, and physician endorsement). Senior citizens above 60 are warmly welcome provided they submit a satisfactory medical fitness report. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines, foreign nationals (holding non-Indian passports) and OCI/PIO cardholders are currently restricted from travelling past Gunji checkpost due to international border protocols. Only citizens of the Republic of India holding valid government ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID) are granted Inner Line Permits for Jolingkong and Nabhidhang.

Until 2020, yatris had to trek over 80 km on foot. Today, thanks to the newly constructed, all-weather high-altitude road engineered by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), 4x4 vehicles travel directly up to Jolingkong (Adi Kailash basecamp) and Nabhidhang (Om Parvat viewpoint).

From Jolingkong, it is only a gentle 1.5 km stroll over a flat alpine plateau to reach Parvati Sarovar at Adi Kailash. Pilgrims who prefer not to walk can easily hire ponies/mules on the spot.

• For Kathgodam Departures (7D & 8D packages): Kathgodam is the railway railhead of Kumaon. Direct daily trains include the Kathgodam Shatabdi Express (New Delhi), Ranikhet Express (Overnight from Delhi), and Uttarakhand Sampark Kranti. Overnight Volvo buses run from Anand Vihar ISBT, Delhi.
• For Dharchula Departures (5D Essential): You can take a direct taxi from Kathgodam/Haldwani to Dharchula (280 km, approx. 8-9 hours). The scenic route passes Almora and Pithoragarh along fully paved highways. Free secure parking is provided at our basecamp for personal cars.

We operate a dedicated fleet of heavy-duty 4x4 Mahindra Bolero Campers, Scorpios, and Force Cruisers. These rugged 4WD vehicles have high ground clearance and all-terrain tires specifically engineered to negotiate rocky switchbacks, riverbeds, and unpaved Himalayan trails. All drivers are native Kumaonis with over a decade of border road driving experience.

Private 4x4 vehicles and experienced adventure motorbikes (like Himalayan 450s) are technically allowed up to Gunji, but you must register the vehicle with the SDM Dharchula and obtain an individual vehicle permit. Low-ground-clearance sedans, hatchbacks, and standard 2WD commercial cabs are strictly barred beyond Dharchula. We strongly recommend using our seasoned 4x4 fleet and local native drivers for passenger safety.

AMS can occur above 8,000 ft when the body does not get enough oxygen. Symptoms include mild headache, nausea, dizziness, and fatigue.

How We Protect You:
• Our itineraries are structured with gradual altitude climbs (Night 1 at 915m in Dharchula, Night 2 at 3,200m in Gunji) allowing natural acclimatization.
• Our tour leaders carry pulse oximeters to check your SpO2 oxygen levels twice daily.
• Medical oxygen cylinders are onboard all vehicles.
• Drinking 3 to 4 liters of warm water and avoiding overexertion keeps 98% of yatris healthy.

Yes. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) operates primary medical dispensaries with stationed military doctors at Gunji, Kalapani, and Jolingkong Basecamp. They are equipped with hyperbaric oxygen chambers and emergency altitude medications. In the rare event of severe medical distress, ITBP and civil administration maintain emergency helicopter evacuation protocols to Pithoragarh Military Hospital.

In Vyas Valley, pilgrims stay in authentic traditional wooden village homestays operated by the indigenous Rung Bhotiya community or KMVN alpine guest houses. Rooms are warm, clean, and equipped with thick Himalayan fleece quilts, clean mattresses, and pillows. Due to extreme freezing winters, plumbing is basic, but hot bucket water is provided every morning.

All meals served throughout the yatra are 100% Pure Vegetarian, fresh, and cooked sattvic style without onion/garlic on request. Meals include hot dal, steamed basmati rice, rotis, fresh seasonal vegetables, pahadi soup, halwa/kheer, and local ginger-herbal tea to maintain body warmth and digestion.

Most newly constructed homestays in Gunji and Nabi now feature modern attached or common western flush toilets. At high-altitude Jolingkong Basecamp (14,950 ft), clean dry-toilet facilities and basic ITBP toilet blocks are utilized due to sub-zero night temperatures that freeze running water pipes.

The VIP Helicopter Yatra operates directly out of Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh. In accordance with DGCA high-altitude aviation safety norms, each helicopter passenger is permitted a maximum of 5 kg of soft duffel/hand baggage. Hard suitcases and heavy trolley bags are strictly prohibited on the aircraft. Free secure storage lockers are provided at our Pithoragarh base hotel for your main luggage.

High-altitude helicopter operations require clear visibility. In case of rain or cloud cover, sorties are held on standby and flown during the next clear sky window. If flights cannot operate due to prolonged weather conditions, passengers are accommodated safely or offered alternative road transport with appropriate fare adjustments.

• BSNL: Has the widest coverage in the border belt. BSNL postpaid and prepaid SIMs function in Dharchula, Gunji, and Kalapani.
• Jio: Recently installed a 4G solar tower in Gunji village with intermittent connectivity.
• Airtel / Vi: Work reliably up to Dharchula town, but have no signal beyond Chialekh Pass. We recommend carrying a secondary BSNL SIM.

Night temperatures in Gunji and Jolingkong can drop to 0°C to -5°C even during peak summer (May-June). We recommend packing:
• 2 sets of thermal inners (top & bottom).
• 1 heavy down jacket / windproof parka.
• Fleece jackets or woolen sweaters.
• Sturdy trekking shoes or sports shoes with good rubber grip.
• Woolen gloves, woolen cap / monkey cap, and neck muffler.
• UV-protected sunglasses and SPF 50+ sunscreen lotion.
• Rain poncho or compact raincoat (essential for mountain weather).

Dharchula is the last town with functional ATMs (SBI, PNB, Bank of Baroda) and high-speed internet for Google Pay / PhonePe. Beyond Dharchula in the higher villages, internet is erratic and ATMs do not exist. Please withdraw ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 in cash at Kathgodam or Dharchula for personal expenses, pony charges, and temple donations.

A token advance of ₹5,000 per person secures your departure date and initiates your Inner Line Permit documentation. The balance amount can be settled in installments or upon arrival in Dharchula.

• Cancellations 30+ days prior to departure: 90% refund of advance deposit.
• Cancellations 15–29 days prior: 70% refund or free date rescheduling to another batch.
• Cancellations within 14 days: 50% refund.
• In the rare event of government border closures or emergency road roadblocks, you receive a full credit voucher valid for 24 months.
